ENFIELD HIGH SCHOOL   HANDS ON LEARNING

At Enfield High School we believe that our students have a right to learning that will help them grow as active members of the community, who are able to pursue meaningful work, make and sustain healthy relationships and contribute to the social and political life of the community.

Our school believes that to grow as active members of the community our young people need to feel a sense of belonging. They need to feel that they have the skills to do things that they set out to do. They need to fell that they are useful to the school and the community and that their contribution will be valued. They need to feel that they have the right and strength to speak out to be heard and to change things that need to be changed.

We call the approach we have adopted Hands on Learning

    Hands On Learning means...

A curriculum that puts learning in  context so young people can gain the understanding to know how things work and the skills they need to apply that knowledge.

Active involvement in the school and the community, which fosters a sense of belonging and ownership and ensures the school, is responsive to their needs

Student wellbeing programs that ensures all students have access to responsible caring adults

All students working towards and completing their South Australian Certificate of Education because we know that is the platform from which students launch successful pathways.

    Message from the Principal

Enfield High School is a small school that is learning to respond to the changes in its local community and where that community is placed in the wider context.  When we speak to our students and our parents they talk about wanting learning to be more hands on and relevant.  We have taken that desire on board.

We are working with staff to develop programs that expand hands on learning in a way that makes sure that hands-on means brains-on.  Whether students are aiming for work, further education or university, they need to know how their learning fits into the real world.

As part of our approach to Hands on Learning we have developed a range of community partnerships that benefit our students and ensure that our school can serve the learning of students and be part of our community.
